Here we are – another year coming to an end, and I don’t know about you,
but I’m feeling a tad exhausted!
Every year, before I dive into the madness of tinsel and gingerbread houses and handmade glitter-covered ornaments (yep, with two little girls in the house, we do Christmas hard round here!), I think it’s important to look back over the year that was and see what went down.
And boy what a year it’s been…
This was my vision board (BELOW) for 2014 – it’s been pretty spot-on.
Although I could really do with a bit more ‘stopping and relaxing’…
oh and the camping didn’t happen (woopsy)!
In 2014, I sent 10,567 emails, invoiced 438 clients, drank countless litres of coffee, mentored 9 lovely ladies, escaped to LA, Hawaii and Vanuatu, grew the beast that is ROOOAR magazine, and have well and truly got RSI in my mouse-hand! This year has been so very, very full, and I have much to be grateful for.
So much so, in fact, that I’ve even made a list…
Everyone knows gratitude is good for the soul right? So I thought there’s no time like the present to get high on the good stuff. Life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, but I definitely believe there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for… even if you have to consciously seek it out from time to time.
So without further ado, here are my top 10 grateful moments for 2014….
Getting Engaged! – Early this year, my man whisked me away for a surprise weekend in Vanuatu and popped the question (yep ladies, I got me a good one!). I am grateful to have such a loving, genuine and caring fella in my world. After my last relationship, I could have easily written off the whole male race, but once I met this man, I knew that everything had changed. (You can read about my past relationship in issue #1 of ROOOAR)
Hawaii – Do I really need to say anymore? So grateful for a kid-free, work-free holiday in such a heavenly place. We spent a week with friends, cocktails and the giant blue ocean. Bliss. Now to get our butts back there in 2015!
New friends – Once you become an adult, making new friends is not as easy as it once was. I’m oh-so-grateful for the handful of new friends I’ve made this year, who already feel like they have been around since forever, and who make me laugh and smile like a crazy-lady.
Mentoring – I took the leap this year and decided to package up my expertise into a mentoring program for other biz owners. I am so grateful to the women who put their hopes and dreams in my hands. Since the day I advertised this new offering, I have not once been without a mentor client – how lucky am I?! It’s such inspiring work, and I seriously love watching these ladies kick business-ass.
The Little Moments – You know the ones. The tiny, fleeting moments where you’re able to notice that everything is going juuust right, the world is wonderful, and you’re truly blessed. Whether it’s the angle of the light through the trees, the smell of a hot cinnamon donut, or the sound of my man singing in the shower… I am truly grateful for these little moments (and want to pay even more attention to them in 2015).
My Girls – It goes without saying really, but I am grateful that they fill me up with so much love and joy each day. The way they explore and discover the world through a lens of the most incredible innocence melts my heart at least once a day. #LoveThemToPieces #Seriously #EvenWhenThey’reNaughty!
ROOOAR – The magazine has grown in leaps and bounds this year! Not only are we now on the Virgin Airlines inflight-entertainment system, but we also have a community of amazing inspiring women who feed my motivation and soul every single day. (And watch out world for 2015! We’ve got some AMAZE-BALLS things planned in the ROOOAR Universe!)
Abundance – I am grateful that I can pay the bills, and buy food and clothes for my children without too much worry or stress. On the hard-and-shitty days, I always come back to this fact with intense gratitude (and then send deep compassion to the families who are doing it tough).
Flexibility – I am grateful that my business allows me flexibility, especially with Sofia starting prep this year. I can start and finish whenever I need to, and that makes me a very lucky mama. (On a slightly-less-serious-but-related note, I am also grateful that working from home means that wearing a bra is optional. Don’t underestimate the bliss of bra-free workdays!
The Boss-Ladies – I am grateful to so many fellow Boss-Ladies for writing inspiring books and blogs, for stepping up to play a bigger game, and for helping us all be better biz-owners and people. This little corner of the webosphere that we inhabit is truly an incredible place to be.
So that’s my gratitude list for 2014, lovers. Got anything of your own you’d like to share? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below…
ps. OH and here is my “gratitude-board” for 2014….
